Current DOD firefighting training sites do not have the capacity to support US Navy, NROTC and Coast
Guard training requirements. Therefore, SWSC has tasked NAWCTSD to contract for instructional
support and training services in the delivery of a Naval Damage Control Elite Firefighting training course
in the PACNORWEST FCA. The intent of the course is to provide a formal live firefighting training for
Senior Damage Controlman formal instruction to prepare students to manage and prevent fires through
classroom lessons and hands-on exercises in rescue, hazardous materials, water resource training,
procedural compliance and structural safety coursework, prior to reporting to sea. The course provides
training on how to detect hazards, manage emergencies, and coordinate responses to fires. Students also
learn about the history, theories, and practices of fire prevention, suppression, emergency service
response, human and group management, and leadership and resource allocation. The anticipated award
date is 1 April 2024 with training beginning on 1 May 2024.
