Description

Hazardous fuels removal in the Upper Peshastin sub-watershed which encompasses 29,234 acres of public lands administered by the United States Forest Service, interspersed with 9,153 acres (24%) of other ownership. Peshastin, WA an unincorporated community of approximately 1,600 residents, is located approximately 4 miles to the northeast. The project is located in T21-23N, R17-18E (Figure 1). Vegetative characteristics of the landscape vary from high elevation coniferous forest (5,900 feet at Diamond Head) to dry forest (1,800 feet at the confluence of Ingalls and Peshastin Creek in the valley bottom). Topographic features within this watershed range from shrub-steppe, with gradually sloping hills to highly dissected mountainous areas with steep inclines, and incised drainages.
