The City of Issaquah (“City”) is located in King County, Washington and is east-southeast of Seattle with Bellevue and Sammamish as neighboring cities. Over the last decade Issaquah’s population has more than doubled to over 40,000 residents. As Issaquah continues to experience rapid growth, the need for housing has become a major issue that requires a creative solution. As more opportunities for jobs, recreation, and services grow in Issaquah, the need for housing increases. Issaquah is looking to amend the existing zoning and development regulations to allow for more housing options in single family zones and establish design regulations for courtyard and cottage housing. It is the City’s goal to have middle housing regulations in compliance with House Bill 1110 that compliment Issaquah’s geography, highlights the distinct styles in every neighborhood, and allows for more housing opportunities in zones currently classified as single family.
